Telehealth Q&A

What is telehealth?

Telehealth at Absolute Healthcare includes the option of medical appointments with a provider using technology, such as your smartphone, computer, or tablet. The practice offers this convenient option to receive medical care in order to ensure you receive the treatments needed to stay healthy.

Why might I need a telehealth visit?

You may need telehealth visits when you’re not feeling your best and don’t want to visit the office for medical help.

You can schedule a telehealth visit for acute illnesses, such as:

  • Colds, flu, or COVID-19
  • Strep throat
  • Ear infections
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Rashes
  • Allergic reactions
  • Eye, ear, or throat pain
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

If you have a severe allergic reaction or another life-threatening condition like a concussion or excessive bleeding, you should call 911 or head to the nearest emergency room.

Is telehealth right for me?

Your provider at Absolute Healthcare can help you determine if your condition is best suited for telehealth or in-office visits. They ask about the reason for your visit to determine the urgency of care needed.

You may need a virtual appointment because of a specific medical concern. Or, your condition prevents you from seeing your provider in the office.

What should I expect during telehealth appointments?

You can expect the same exceptional care at Absolute Healthcare during telehealth appointments. You meet with your provider virtually at the scheduled time and discuss your health concerns. Your provider reviews your medical history and asks about your symptoms, medication regimen, and lifestyle habits.

They complete a virtual exam (short assessment of your injury site or symptoms) and may suggest urine testing, blood tests, allergy or asthma testing, flu or COVID-19 testing, X-rays, or other diagnostic tests to pinpoint the cause of worrisome symptoms.

If you need treatment, your provider tailors a plan that maximizes your health, wellness, and quality of life. If your condition is complex and requires a specialist, they can also recommend you to the appropriate care.

To find out if telehealth at Absolute Healthcare is the right fit for your health needs, call the nearest office or book a consultation online today.
